New ingredient tutorial
This tutorial will lead you through the process of creating of a new ingredient.
By following these steps carefully you will become familiar with the major features
of the ingredient interface.
Click on the hyperlinks next to the arrows
to
expand each section or click the show all link at the top right of this page.
- Select the Cooking Navigator tab.
How?
Open
the new ingredient window (click here to learn how).
- On the Action menu, point to New, and then click Ingredient.
Tip If you don't see the Ingredient menu item, make
sure you selected the Cooking
Navigator tab.
Enter
the ingredient properties.
- Enter Basil, Fresh (tutorial) in the Name box.
- Click the Ingredient Folder ellipsis button
and select Spices and Herbs -> Herbs.

- Click Next.
Select
the ingredient measures.
- Select the following measures: gram, ounce,
teaspoon, tablespoon, and cup.
- Enter 2.64 for the mass of the tablespoon measure.
Note The masses of the other volume measures will be
calculated automatically.
- Your screen should look like this:

- Click Next.
Enter
the measure costs.
- Enter 0.92 in the cost column for the 1 oz measure.
Note The costs of the other measures will be calculated
automatically.
- Click Next.
Enter
the measure costs and grocery aisle.
- Enter 0.92 in the cost column for the 1 oz measure.
Note The costs of the other measures will be calculated
automatically.
- Click the Grocery Aisle ellipsis button
to select a grocery aisle.

- Select Produce.
- Click OK to close the Select Grocery Aisle window.
- Click Next.
Enter
the ingredient nutrition.
- Enter 1 in the Serving Size box and select Tablespoon
from the Serving Size list.
- Enter the ingredient nutrition information as shown below:.

- Click Next.
Enter
the ingredient notes.
- Enter the following ingredient note: Basil tastes great served
with tomatoes.
- Click Add to add another note paragraph.
- Enter the following ingredient note: Basil will last longer if
stored in a sealed plastic bag with a damp paper towel.
- Click Next.
Enter
the ingredient notes.
- Enter Diet Pro Tutorial in the Source box.
- Enter www.dietpro.net in the Web Page box.
- Click Finish.
Note Your new ingredient should look very similar to basil
ingredient that was already in the ingredient database..
Tip You can delete your new ingredient whenever you want.
