Edit an ingredient

  1. Select the Cooking Navigator tab.
  2. How?

  3. Select the ingredient you want to edit.
  4. On the Action menu, click Edit Ingredient.
  5. - or -

    Right-click on the Navigator treeview and then, on the popup menu, click Edit Ingredient.

    - or -

    Click Edit on the task toolbar.

  6. Click the Ingredient tab.
  7. Edit the ingredient properties (click here to learn how).
    1. Type the name of the ingredient in the Name box.
    2. Click the Ingredient Folder ellipsis button to select an ingredient folder for the ingredient.
    3. Click the Photograph ellipsis button to select a photograph for the ingredient.
    4. Type the source of the ingredient in the Source box.
    5. Type the web page for the source of the ingredient in the Web Page box.
    6. Type the ingredient comments in the Comments box.
    7. If you have the ingredient on hand, click the On Hand box and/or enter the quantity in the Quantity box.
    8. Note  Only the ingredient name and ingredient folder are mandatory. All other ingredient information is optional.

  8. Click the Nutrition tab.
  9. Edit the ingredient nutrition information.
    1. Type the serving size in the Serving Size box.
    2. Type the nutrient values in the Nutrient boxes.

      Note  Nutritional information is optional, but if any information is entered, the serving size must be entered also.

  10. Click the Measures tab.
  11. Enter the ingredient measures.
    1. Click Add to add a new measure.
    2. Click the checkboxes to select the measures you would like to associate with the ingredient.
    3. Note  If you select one or more volume measures, you will need to enter the mass (in grams) of one of the measures.

      Note  If you select one or more custom measures, you will need to enter a description and the mass (in grams) of each of the measures.

    4. Click OK.
    5. Enter the cost of at least one of the ingredient measures (optional). The remaining measure costs will be calcualte automatically.
  12. Click the Notes tab.
  13. Enter the ingredient notes.
    1. Click Add to add a new note.
    2. Tip  Click Move Up or Move Down to change the order of the notes.

  14. Click the Grocery tab.
  15. Select the grocery aisle.
    1. Enter a grocery aisle in the Grocery Aisle box or click the Grocery Aisle ellipsis button to select a grocery aisle from a list of grocery aisles.
  16. Click Check Spelling to check the spelling of the ingredient.

  18. Click OK.
